At St Elizabeth’s as in many Episcopal Churches an acolyte is a general term that covers not only servers, torchbearers, and lighters of candles but also crucifers, thurifers, and banner-bearers. At St Elizabeth’s we have maintained many High Church practices, which we inherited from Christ Church 1838 which was one of the first Anglo-Catholic churches in the Province.

Our children and young adults at St Elizabeth’s learn both about their faith and grow in Christian disciplines along with the joys of responsibilities at an early age. Serving as acolytes provide rich and unique opportunities to enrich and deepen youth faith journey as they participate in a more intimate connection to worship God.
